Teresita E. McCarthy (Executive Director) B.A. (ed.), B.A., - Teresita taught primary school for thirty-three years in the classrooms in her native community of Bell Island, NL. Currently she holds the position of Executive Director of the Bell Island Community Museum and #2 Mine Tour. She is President of the Museum Association of NL, a founding member of the Bell Island Heritage Society Inc. and Tourism Bell Island Inc., serves on the working committee for the Community Sector Council and is no stranger to volunteerism. Recently Teresita received the Canadian Museum Association Award for Distinguished Service. Teresita is the recipient of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal for her contribution to culture and heritage in her community and province. She was elected as Councillor, Town of Wabana in December of 2014. She and her husband Des have two children. Shannon and Gavin; and beautiful granddaughters Tessa & Tori.
Bernadette Hammond (Tour-Guide / Gift Shop)
Mrs. Bernie Hammond has been with the Bell Island Community Museum & Number 2 Mine Tour since it first opened in 1998. Born and raised on Bell Island, Bernie grew up on Lighthouse Road where her father was Bell Island’s first lighthouse keeper in 1940. Bernie has worked in St. John’s and Ontario for many years and is the proud Mother of three children.
Bonnie Spracklin (Tour-Guide / Product Development)
Mrs. Bonnie Spracklin was born in Carbonear and moved to Bell Island in the 1970’s. She has worked with the Royal Canadian Army Cadets 2410 Bell Island for the past 24 years, ten of those years as Commanding Officer . Bonnie is a member of the St. Michael's Parish Bereavement Team and is also a Board Member for the Bell Island Community Hospital. Bonnie has been with the Museum since 2008 and has successfully completed the Basic Museum Studies Certificate from the Museum Association of NL. Bonnie is the proud Mother of seven children and lives on Bell Island with her husband Tom.
Brian Hickey (Tour-Guide / Collections Management)
Brian Hickey was born and raised on Bell Island. Brian previous employment includes Government Caucus Researcher, and Policy & Planning Development Officer, Provincial Waste Management Strategy. In 2010, Brian moved back to Bell Island with his wife Marilee and their three sons. In 2012 he became a team member of the Bell Island Community Museum and No. 2 Mine Tour as a Tour Guide.
Geraldine Hibbs (Tour Guide)
Geraldine Hibbs grew up in Lance Cove, Bell Island and like many expats she moved to Ontario to start a family with her husband Gary. Her roots took her back home and she became a team member of the museum in 2017. Geraldine loves sharing stories, spending time with her family, especially her new grandson.
Ray (Fox) Galway (Tour Guide /Maintenance)
Fox Galway grew up at West Mines, Bell Island and moved to Ontario seeking work as a young man. His heart remained near and dear to Bell Island, committing many volunteer hours "giving back" to Bell Island from afar. A singer and recording artist, Fox is no stranger to the stage and loves to sing and perform for family and friends. Fox joined the talented team at the museum in 2019 and as a strong advocate for his home community Fox is a welcomed addition to the museum.
Doris Skanes (Mug Up Shop Owner/Operator)
Mrs. Doris Skanes was born and raised in Lance Cove, Bell Island and is owner and operator of the Mug Up Shop operating out of the museum. A St. Boniface graduate and certified Teacher Trainer at Moncton NBIT Doris brings a wealth of knowledge to the #2 Mine Tour and Museum. Doris was an instructor at the Vocational School, Bell Island until it's closure, and moved on to teach at The College of the North Atlantic until her retirement in 1999. Doris is the proud mother of two and resides on Bell Island with her husband Gord.

Mrs. Bernie Hammond has been with the Bell Island Community Museum & Number 2 Mine Tour since it first opened in 1998.
